Students at Stuart Place Elementary brought history to life on May 21.
To put a new twist on the subject, students participated in the Texas Living Heroes event. The interactive project allowed each student to play the role of an important figure in Texas history, and share that individual’s history with others as they walked by.
From Davy Crockett to Jane Long, each Texas Hero was represented. To showcase their figure as accurately as possible, students dressed in the same attire their hero would and spent weeks researching their history and achievements.
The goal of the project is to get students excited about history, and help them understand how these individuals changed the course of historical events in Texas.
