Students at the Harlingen Consolidated Independent School District were honored for their creativity during the city PTSA meeting on Feb. 18.
The city PTSA recognized students from a number of its elementary, middle and high school campuses for their entries in this year’s PTA Reflections Contest. The Reflections program is designed to enhance rather than replace a quality arts education.
Students are encouraged to submit original works of art based on an annually selected theme. This year, the theme “The Magic of the Moment,” pulled in hundreds of entries from around HCISD.
The six arts categories available were: Visual Arts, photography, literature, musical composition, film production, and dance choreography. The categories were divided into subgroups of primary, intermediate, middle school and secondary.
Each campus was invited to submit entries to the district. This year, HCISD had over 30 awardees out of hundreds of submissions.
