The Harlingen CISD Board of Trustees has ratified an updated tax rate resolution for the 2026 tax year, resulting in a lower overall tax rate than the rate approved earlier this month.
During the Sept. 8 Board meeting, trustees approved a total tax rate of $0.9499 per $100 of taxable property value. The Board took action Sept. 28 to correct and formally ratify the official 2026 tax rate.
The updated Maintenance and Operations tax rate is $0.7480 per $100 of taxable value. The previously approved one-year disaster adjustment of $0.0317 remains unchanged, bringing the total Maintenance and Operations rate to $0.7797.
The Interest and Sinking rate also remains unchanged at $0.1630.
Together, the updated rates result in a total 2026 HCISD tax rate of $0.9427 per $100 of taxable property value, compared with the $0.9499 rate approved Sept. 8.
HCISD is sharing the update so taxpayers have clear and accurate information about the rate that will be used for the 2026 tax year.
HCISD remains committed to responsible stewardship of taxpayer dollars and transparency with the community. The district will continue to provide information about the use of the temporary disaster funds as projects move forward.
