Harlingen High School and Harlingen High School South Jazz Ensembles shined bright this past Saturday at the TMEA Region 28 jazz band auditions held at Harlingen High School.
High-school students from Brownsville to Donna participated in the annual jazz competition where each student performed three prepared pieces and an improvisational solo. HHS and HHSS had the most student winners of all high schools participating earning 17 and 10 spots respectively. Of these All-Region jazz winners, 13 from HHS and 3 from HHSS were selected as All-Area candidates. They will record their performance for an opportunity to make the Texas All-State Jazz Band. All-State results will be announced in November.

All Regional winners will participate in an All-Star concert in February at the HCISD PAC.
