High school girls basketball players awarded positions on district teams

The Harlingen Consolidated Independent School District’s high school basketball programs had an outstanding season with many of the athletes receiving honors for their athletic abilities.

Harlingen High School and Harlingen High School South student athletes were awarded positions on the 32-5A All District Team. Players from Harlingen in addition to other students from the lower Rio Grande Valley had the opportunity to be selected.

From HHS, Itzayana Sanchez was named Defensive Player of the Year. Rikki Cuellar was named Newcomer of the Year. Iris Cerrillo and Alexis Martinez were placed on the First All District Team. Kayla Perez was placed on Second Team All District.

From HHSS, Jackie Martinez was named Offensive Player of the Year and received Texas Association of Basketball Coaches (TABC) All Region. Gabby Cavazos and Jaclyn Robles was placed on the First All District Team. Melissa Quintanilla and Shelby Cano were All District Honorable Mention. Ruayda Bouls was placed on second Team All District.
