HHSS track, swim students placed on Academic All State teams

Harlingen High School South athletes outshine the rest by receiving prestigious recognition and honors for their performance in the classroom.

Blazing past the competition in the water and in the classroom, Alexis Mulkey (11) was recently awarded a position on the 2013-2014 Academic All-State Texas interscholastic Swimming Coaches Association (TISCA).

Brandon Rodriguez (12) and Carlos Lopez (12) are experts at working hard and managing time on the track and in the classroom. Rodriguez and Lopez were awarded positions on 2013-2014 Academic All-State Track Team Second Team by the Texas High School Coaches Association (THSCA).

For Mulkey, the student-athlete selection was based on her academic performance and merit by keeping a grade point average of a 3.75 while on the Varsity Swimming Team.

For Rodriguez and Lopez, the student-athlete selection was based on their academic performance and merit. They were required to maintain a minimum of a 92 average throughout their high school careers. Both will be attending Texas A&M University in College Station.
