The Harlingen High School and Harlingen High School South Jazz Bands had a strong performance at the Region 28 Jazz Band auditions hosted by HHS.
A total of 26 students from both schools were awarded chairs in the 2012 – 2013 Texas Music Educators Association Region Jazz Band.
HHS had 15 students awarded chairs. Out of those students, eight were selected to compete at the state level. The students that qualified for state were Kayla Juarez, Cody Gonzales, Jacob Cantu, Stephen Garcia, Juan Maldonado, Carter Mink, David Dorado and Myles Rosenbaum.
HHSS had 11 students awarded chairs, with six students qualifying to compete at the state level. These students were Amand Cavazos, Frankie Gonzalez, Robert Guzman, Alex Cavarubias, Fabian Ibbarra and Ryan Mowers.
