Harlingen CISD high school and middle school Speech, Drama, and Debate teams recently showcased their talents in competition.
Harlingen High School and Harlingen High School South competed at the Corpus Christi Carroll NIETOC/TFA Tournament.
South secured a first-place finish, and Harlingen High School achieved a fourth-place ranking in the overall standings.
Harlingen South earned Texas Forensic Association (TFA) State Tournament and National Individual Events Tournament of Champions (NIETOC) qualifications. CJ Heiskell was a TFA qualifier for Humorous Interpretation. Adriana Rodriguez and Karla Rivera were TFA State Qualifiers and NIETOC Qualifiers in Duet Acting. In addition, Sadie Jensen was a NIETOC Qualifier in Dramatic Interpretation.
Meanwhile, the middle school Speech, Drama, and Debate teams from Gutierrez, Memorial, Vernon, Vela, and Coakley exhibited their skills at the Valley View UIL Invitational meet.
Memorial Middle School earned a total of 21 top-three awards, Gutierrez Middle School won 15 top-three awards, and Vela Middle School returned with six top-three awards. Vernon Middle School claimed four top-three accolades, and Coakley Middle School earned five top-three recognitions.
