Austin Student Council collects goods for Harlingen families

The Student Council at Austin Elementary School took the opportunity to spread Christmas cheer by helping those in need this holiday season.

Members joined forces with Austin staff and faculty to collect donations for the Family Crisis Center in Harlingen. It was their first project for the school year, and the students were eager to serve their community.

They partnered with the Family Crisis Center to compliment the work that Juan Guzman, counselor at Austin, was doing for the organization. He and Delia Hernandez, a teacher and Student Council sponsor at Austin, worked on coordinating the community service partnership.

There are 30 students that make up the Student Council at Austin. Members come from the fourth and fifth grade.
