Austin Elementary School got a glimpse into the successes of one former student as 17th United States Ambassador to the United Nations Warren Tichenor paid a special visit to the campus on Nov. 14.
Tichenor’s visit marked his donation of funds to Austin teachers to assist them in purchasing books for their classrooms from the campus book fair. He was inspired to give back to his former campus after seeing the announcement on the campus’ website.
His $625 donation allowed each teacher to add $25 of books to their classroom library.
In appreciation of his donation to promote literacy at Austin Elementary, School Board Members, Superintendent Dr. Art J. Cavazos, students, and teachers came out to show their gratitude.
