The senior from Harlingen High School South wants to work on music videos some day, she said. She wants to be a video editor, though she has a reputation for being the total package working as a coop with the Harlingen Consolidated Independent School District’s Communication Department.
“I enjoy working on videos every afternoon,” she said. “That’s what I’m dedicated to. It’s my passion.”
Destined for the Art Institute at Austin, Treviño began producing videos in high school when she took her first media tech class, she said. She worked with a team to design a commercial about cupcakes.
“None of my partners in my group knew how to edit, so I gave it a try,” she said. “I was good at it. I was able to catch on and learn. The video was fun to put together, and it turned out pretty good.”
Now, Treviño has upgraded her skill set and has been a workhorse in her role as a video editor and producer for HCISD. One of her favorite recurring projects has been editing and shooting the PTSA Student of the Month videos, which showcase the Students of the Month from Harlingen High School, Early College High School and HHSS.
“I really enjoy going to shoot the Student of the Month videos because I get to see what other students are involved with,” she said. “I get to see other students’ talents and passions.”
Off in the state’s capital next year, Treviño will miss her family and her pet chinchilla, Henry, she said. But she’s ready for the next chapter in her life.
“I think next year, with the experience I have been working here, I think things will work smoothly,” she said. “I am just excited to keep working.”
