High school swim teams make a splash at regional competition

Harlingen High School and Harlingen High School South Swim teams found success at the Regional swim competition held in Brownsville on Feb. 9.

Over 20 HHS and HHSS swimmers qualified for the Regional finals and placed in the top 20. In addition, Harlingen High School senior Miguel Garcia earned first place in the one-meter diving event at the Regional meet. His first place finish also qualified him for the University Interscholastic League State Swimming and Diving Meeting at the University of Texas at Austin’s Lee and Joe Jamail Texas Swim Center on Feb. 22. He was also awarded the District and Regional Male Diver of the meet certificate as the best diver at these two events.

He hopes to finish his last season as a cardinal swimmer and diver by earning a spot on diving team in college.
