Student Council Officers from campuses across the Rio Grande Valley gathered for a day of collaboration and leadership development
A total of 147 students took part in the Leaders ‘R’ Us Workshop hosted by Zavala Elementary School on Oct. 3.
In attendance were students from HCISD, Mercedes ISD, San Benito ISD, La Feria ISD and Santa Rosa ISD. Twenty-three campuses were present.
The workshop is aimed at educating participants on the mission of Student Council, and how they can help their school and community, said Yvonne Gonzales, library media specialist at Zavala.
Presented topics included health, bullying and how to address issues on campus.
Student Council Advisors also held their own workshop, which covered a variety of topics including meeting framework and fundraising, Gonzales said.
Zavala has hosted the workshop for over 10 years, which is sponsored by the Texas Elementary Principals and Supervisors Association.
