Myah Castro, a first-grader at Rodriguez Elementary, was selected as a winner in this year’s Region One ESC Annual Holiday Art Contest. Her artwork will be featured alongside two other winning entries on the center’s “official” holiday cards sent out to area superintendents, school districts, and statewide education agencies.
A winner was selected by a panel of judges in the elementary, middle school, and high school division. The theme for the contest was “A South Texas Holiday,” or “A Border Holiday.”
Myah’s piece reflects on an iconic symbol of Mexican Christmas celebrations – the piñata.
Winners will receive a set of holiday cards, with their art design, to share with friends and family in addition to a prize package of art supplies.
