Oziel Ochoa has been named principal of Zavala Elementary.
Ochoa has worked in education for 14 years and has been in the district for seven years. He began his career in 2014 with HCISD teaching Special Education Adaptive PE. For the last five years, he served as the assistant principal at Zavala Elementary.
He obtained his bachelor’s degree in Kinesiology with a minor in Spanish from the University of Texas Pan American, and he received a master’s degree in Educational Administration from Lamar University.
Ochoa is a proud Harlingen High School South alumnus.
