Schawn Wreden applies the concept of trying something new to everything she does. From opening new business ventures to developing solutions, everything can be traced back to her personal motto.
“I’ve always enjoyed looking out of the box for solutions,”Wreden said. “I like to think I apply that in all aspects of life.
Wreden, a Harlingen High School graduate, has the opportunity to use her unique outlook as the ACE Project Director for the Harlingen Consolidated Independent School District. She works daily towards developing innovative activities for the award wining ACE program at HCISD.
“The goal of the activities provided by the ACE program is not to look like the school day, but still provide an environment where they can continue the learning day,” Wreden said. “Through activities, students get to try something new.”
Her ideals have not gone unnoticed, Wreden and campus ACE directors from across HCISD were recently awarded Most Innovative Activity In Family Engagement for the Family Fishing Day they held during the summer.
Wreden has been with HCISD for 17 years. Prior to working with the ACE program, she taught at Harlingen High School and at Raymondville ISD.
