Fourteen students from Harlingen CISD’s five middle schools competed in the district’s annual Spelling be on Thursday.
The district-wide spelling bee was held at Coakley Middle School.
District champion Olivia Luna and runner-up Mattias Mata will represent Harlingen CISD at the 32nd Annual Rio Grande Regional Bee being held on Saturday, March 7th at Texas State Technical College’s Harlingen campus.
The winner of the Rio Grande Valley Regional Spelling Bee will have an opportunity to advance to the National Spelling Bee being held in the Washington, DC in May.
