Lamar hosts ceremony for new Student Council members

Student council members from Lamar Elementary School gathered to officially take their leadership positions on Dec. 5.

The campus hosted their Student Council induction ceremony, and made it a day to remember for all students.

Student council members stood proudly as their names were called to receive their medals, and Lamar students loudly cheered on their peers. To add some excitement, the Harlingen South Varsity Orchestra under the direction of Lucas Darger performed Johan Pachelbel’s Canon in D and Soon Hee Newbold’s Perseus. In addition, Major Casebeer’s students from Harlingen South AFJORTC Color Guard presented the Colors.

Erica Gutierrez Campos, the Lamar Student Council Head Advisor had the honor of welcoming Mr. Polo Sandoval, KRGV’s Channel 5 News Reporter as the ceremony’s Keynote Speaker. Mr. Polo Sandoval presented to the students on the importance of leadership.

The new inductees look forward to serving their community.

Their peers elect student council members. Their mission is to provide leadership to their campuses, and work to positively impact their community.
