For the first time since 2010, the Lady Hawk softball team is marking their return to sweet 16 status.
The team pulled together to score a regional quarterfinal playoff victory against Laredo LBJ at Texas A&M Kingsville’s Herbert Field on May 10. The final tally for the Lady Hawks was 12 -2.
“It feels amazing,” screamed senior third baseman Stephanie Lugo. “It feels like it’s happening all over again for me and the team. It’s my dream come true to as a senior go all the way back to the sweet 16 and maybe go farther.”
With their win, the Lady Hawks will advance to the fourth round of the playoffs. The one game match up will see the Lady Hawks face Smithson-Valley in Sinton, Texas on May 17.
The game is scheduled to begin at 7:30 p.m.
