The Harlingen High School Lady Cardinals basketball team secured a back-to-back district championship this season.
In their final district game of the 2019-20 basketball season held on Feb. 11, the Lady Cardinals came out ahead with a win over the Brownsville Rivera Lady Raiders.
The Lady Cardinals, led by head coach Ashley Moncivaiz, went undefeated in district. The Lady Cardinals won all ten district games and are advancing to the next round.
The bi-district game will take place against Donna North High School on Monday, Feb. 17 in Donna.
“Once I got in the game, I just played how I played … I played with my heart out,” said freshman Rosa Zapata, a point guard, after soaring into the district championship. “We want to keep going and go far in the playoffs.”
