Jefferson Elementary School partnered with Straight Across to fill the bellies of families this Thanksgiving.
Twenty-five families from Jefferson Elementary will receive turkey dinners on Nov. 22.
Families will come by Jefferson and pick up a fully prepared meal. The meal includes a fully cooked turkey and all of the Thanksgiving staples. Families have been pre-selected to receive the meals.
Darryn Caraveo, founder of Straight Across, started the organization eight years ago to help those in need. His giving away of one turkey sparked a movement. This year the organization will provide 200 meals to families across the Rio Grande Valley.
Today Straight Across gives over 600 turkey dinners to families across the Rio Grande Valley.
