Harlingen High School South seniors, Jerry Campos and Jesus Martinez, are experts at working hard and managing time on the track and in the classroom.
Campos and Martinez were awarded positions on the 2012-2013 Academic All-State Track Team Second Team by the Texas High School Coaches Association (THSCA) on May 2.
Ralph De La Rosa, HHSS boys track coach, nominated both student-athletes for the position. Their selection was based on their academic performance and merit. They were required to maintain a minimum of a 92 average throughout their high school careers.
Jesse Martinez and Jerry Campos recently placed third in the 800-meter relay having cut five seconds from their run since the start of the season at the Region IV- 5A Area Meet at Weslaco’s Bobby Lackey Stadium.
