HHSS Masterminds head to third round of academic competition


The Harlingen High School South Masterminds team had an outstanding performance during their second round of the televised competition on Feb 10.

The HHSS team consisting of students Tristan Barrera, John Fraga, and Ben Whitman, excelled over the Brownsville Veterans with a score of 345-295. The competition is scheduled to air on Sunday, April 6 at 11:00 a.m. on KRGV.

With their win the team will advance to the next round held in March.

The KRGV Channel 5 New competition is an academic quiz for high school students’ from across the Rio Grande Valley.

Teams answer questions on subjects like history, math, English, current events, art and music. The competition takes place throughout the school year with teams meeting by a draw system.
