The Harlingen High School and Harlingen High School South cross-country teams had a strong performance at the District Meet on Oct. 19.
The HHS boy’s team earned first place overall. The girl’s team was awarded fifth.
Individually, HHS runners Issac Romero, Orser Rodriguez, Donald Almazan, Mark Alvarado, David Hernandez and James Martin earned first, third, ninth, 16th, 18th and 19th, respectively.
From the HHS girl’s team, Ylaesli Guajardo, Ashley Macias and Jesslyn Garcia were awarded 16th, 18th and 20th, respectively.
For HHSS, the boy’s team placed sixth. The girl’s team was awarded seventh.
Individually, Aaron Medina and Andrew Martinez placed fourth and 17th in the boy’s competition, respectively. Ashley Araiza was awarded 10th and Alexis Punte received 30th in the girl’s tournament.
The top three teams overall and the top ten individual runners will advance to the Region Meet on Nov. 3.
