Harlingen CISD’s director of multi-language earned a distinguished award.
Norma Garcia, the director of the multi-language department at HCISD, was selected as the recipient of the 2020 Distinguished Billingual Educators Honoree Award by the Rio Grande Valley Texas Association for Bilingual Educators.
“This award is given to individuals whose hard work and dedication have produced positive change in the field of bilingual education,” according to Dr. Gina Garza-Reyna, president of the association. “Honorees … are also individuals with a proven trajectory of supporting and celebrating linguistically diverse children and their families, thus opening doors and building dreams for them and their communities.”
Garcia was thanked for her continued support of bilingual education in the Rio Grande Valley.
She will be honored on Saturday, January 18 at 11:30 a.m. at the annual RGV-TABE conference at the South Padre Island Convention Center.
