Harlingen South Boys Track and Field Team named Area Champs, Regional qualifiers announced

Harlingen High School South Boys Track and Field Team took home the 31-6A/32-6A Area Championship Title Thursday night after their impressive win at PSJA Stadium in Pharr.

The Hawks sprint relay team (Adrian Torres, Brandon Villarreal, Darren Perez and Aaron Romero), and 800-meter relay team (Adrian Torres, Javier Gonzalez, Darren Perez and Aaron Romero) remained undefeated.

Having faced the best that the Rio Grande Valley has to offer at the meet of champions, the 32-6A District meet, and now the area meet, they have proven to be the best.

Contributing to the area title win were: Adey Awah shot put; Marco Castellanos high jump; Sam Alvarez Area Champ in pole vault; Marcus Ramirez pole vault; Noah Perez 400 and mile relay; Abraham Villafranca 800 and mile relay; Joey Torres 110, 300 hurdles and mile relay; Aaron Romero sprint relay, 800 meter relay and 200; Adrian Torres sprint relay and 800 relay; Brandon Villarreal sprint relay; Darren Perez sprint relay and 800 relay; and Javier Gonzalez 800 meter relay and mile relay.

The top four finishers in each event will advance to the Region IV-6A meet, which will be held at Alamo Stadium in San Antonio on April 20-30.
