ECHS community service group recognized for their efforts

The Early College High School ACE Community Service Group , The Action Team, is working alongside Major League baseball players to give back to their communities and help those in need.

ECHS was recently recognized in the Wall Street Journal for their involvement in the Volunteers of America and Major League Baseball (MLB) Players Trust in April.

The MLB Players Trust and Volunteers of America, in honor of Volunteer Recognition Month, recognized ECHS along with 130 other Action Team high schools for their outstanding efforts in planning projects and recruiting fellow students to volunteer.

With their participation in the Action Team, ECHS team members’ work through their local school district to recruit other teens to volunteer in projects developed by Volunteers of America’s local offices. They help others within the classroom and community. Over 60 students participated in community service events throughout the year. The team is lead by ECHS students Crystal Salinas and Marlene De Los Santos.

To become a part of the action, the campus had to fill out an application and meet certain criteria.
