During a special board meeting on June 3, the Harlingen Consolidated Independent School District Board of Trustees voted unanimously to appoint Dr. Bobby Muniz to fill the vacancy left by former board member Dr. Cesar Maldonado.
“I’m honored to be appointed to this outstanding Board of Trustees,” said Dr. Muniz. “ I look forward to working with this dynamic team.”
Dr. Cesar Maldonado resigned from his position after being named the Chancellor of Houston Community College.
“Dr. Bobby Muniz is an outstanding member of our community and will bring his expertise of medical business administration to our board,” said Board President Greg Powers. “We look forward to continuing our efforts with this additional perspective and working together on behalf of our HCISD learning community.”
Dr. Muniz is currently a pharmacist and co-owner at Muniz Rio Grande Pharmacy. He is a graduate of Harlingen High School and former student of Treasure Hills Elementary and Coakley Middle School.
“As we continue our efforts to provide our students with world-class schools, Dr. Bobby Muniz will serve as an asset to our Board of Trustees,” said Superintendent Dr. Art Cavazos. “He is an active member in our community and strongly believes in our mission to prepare students for global achievement. I commend our board on their decision.”
On June 10, he will be officially sworn in during the Board of Trustees regular meeting.
Congratulations Dr. Muniz! I saw you yesterday and I would have congratulated you but I didn’t know! Welcome to the HCISD Board of Trustees!
What a wonderful addition to our outstanding board.
