Boys and Girls Club will open Remote Learning Support Centers

HCISD continues to expand its partnerships throughout the Harlingen Community. As we get ready to begin remote instruction on September 8, Harlingen CISD has partnered with The Boys and Girls Club of Harlingen and local childcare facilities to help students who need additional support with online learning.

The district has prepared to assist students with electronic device loans and internet connectivity if needed. Still, they realize that some students might need additional support with tasks such as logging in or navigating the online learning platforms used for remote learning.

The Boys and Girls Club will be opening Remote Learning Support Centers and HCISD will be supporting them by providing training on technology and resources used by the district. Boys and Girls Club staff, along with some HCISD staff members, will be available to assist students with basic troubleshooting or navigation questions at these sites.

Some local childcare facilities will also be in partnership with the district. Participating daycares will receive training on the online learning systems students will be using, and they will be provided with increased internet connectivity for students to use during remote learning. Visit with your child’s daycare to see if it will be partnering with HCISD.

HCISD teachers will not be available at the Remote Learning Support Centers. This opportunity does not take the place of being face to face in a classroom, but it can help students who are struggling with technology or online platform use.

A survey must be completed for students to participate in these Boys and Girls Club Remote Learning Support Centers. Limited slots are available. Morning and afternoon sessions will be offered.
