HCISD Earns National Music Education Recognition for Eighth Year

Harlingen CISD has been recognized with the Best Communities for Music Education designation from the National Association of Music Merchants (NAMM) Foundation for the eighth consecutive year. This national honor celebrates districts across the country for their outstanding commitment to music education and for ensuring all students have access to high-quality music programs.

“Music education is an essential part of how we develop the whole child in HCISD,” said Superintendent Dr. Veronica Kortan. “Our students are given opportunities to express themselves, build confidence, and develop skills that extend far beyond the classroom. This recognition reflects the passion and purpose of our educators and the meaningful experiences they create for our students every day.”

This designation is awarded to school districts that demonstrate outstanding achievement in providing music access and education to all students. HCISD’s continued recognition highlights the district’s strong support of fine arts programming and its commitment to student success.

“When we talk about opportunity, this is exactly what we mean,” said Board President Dr. Nolan Perez. “Honors like this show that we are creating those opportunities for every student to discover their potential, develop their talents, and find their voice through music.”

HCISD offers a comprehensive music education program that includes band, choir, orchestra, and elementary music instruction, providing students with opportunities to perform, compete, and grow as artists and leaders.
