HCISD Board of Trustee Dr. Nolan Perez was reappointed to the University of Texas System Board of Regents by Governor Greg Abbott on April 13.
He has served as a member of the University of Texas System Board of Regents since 2019.
The Board of Regents is the governing body for The University of Texas System, which is composed of nine members who are appointed by the Governor and confirmed by the Senate.
Dr. Perez is the CEO of Gastroenterology Consultants of South Texas, PLLC. He has been a Trustee for HCISD since 2010. Previously, he also served as a member of the Texas Woman’s University Board of Regents from 2015 to 2019.
“Dr. Perez is such a great advocate for our students, and we are so grateful for his service to our district, our community, and the entire state of Texas,” Board President Eladio Jaimez said. “We want to congratulate him on his reappointment.”
Additionally, Dr. Perez serves on other boards including the Philosophical Society of Texas, Holdsworth Center Governing Board, Lone Star National Bank Board, University of Texas Chancellor’s Council Executive Committee, Senator John Cornyn’s Service Academy Nominations Board, Platinum Surgery Center Board, Brownsville Surgery Center Board, Sapphire Condominium Board, and he is an expert panelist for the Texas Medical Board.
“We are so proud of Dr. Perez for all that he has accomplished and for continuing to do a great job representing not only HCISD but the entire Rio Grande Valley as a UT Regent,” Superintendent Dr. Alicia Noyola said.
