The Molina Foundation donates more than 10K free books

Boxes filled with free books were delivered to Harlingen CISD schools in November.

The books were donated to students by The Molina Foundation, a California-based non-profit organization focused on “reducing disparities in access to education and health,” according to its website.

HCISD received 10,800 books, which were shipped to schools in mid-November.

The free books were provided as part of a grant by the foundation, which has supplied more than 5.5 million books to schools and organizations across the country.

Being surrounded by books and a culture of reading make a significant difference. Research suggests a child who hails from a home with 25 books will, on average, complete two more years of school than would a child from a home without any books at all,” according to The Molina Foundation’s website.
