Four students from the Harlingen Consolidated Independent School District have been chosen to advance to the state level for their creative artwork on fire safety.
Roxanne Anciso from Bonham Elementary and Andre Sankovet from Lamar Elementary will be advancing in the Kinder Division (Pre-K/Kinder). Eugene Galvan from Bowie Elementary will be advancing in the Middle Division (Fifth/Sixth Grade) and Aire Villanueva sophomore at Harlingen High School will be advancing in the High School Division.
Students ages K-12 submitted a piece of their own artwork to compete in the district Fire Prevention Poster Contest. From there winners were selected to advance to the regional competition and then the state contest. Students placing first through third in the regional competition were chosen for the state contest, which will be held in Galveston at the State Firemen and Fire Marshal’s Association Fire Conference this month.
