Harlingen High School South students spread holiday cheer as they delivered presents to eight different elementary campuses early Friday morning as part of their annual Operation Santa.
“This is an annual holiday tradition,” said Omar Pedroza HHSS coach. “Our football players and cheerleaders pick a name of a student to buy a Christmas present for and we deliver the presents before the holiday break. We are visiting eight different elementary campuses today.”
Hawks from various student organizations including the football team and cheerleaders each chose a student to buy a present for.
“I like seeing the kids happy,” said senior football player Jonathan Contreras. “It’s a great feeling knowing that they’re feeling good. Hopefully, they have a really good Christmas.”
