The Sam Houston Chess Team proved they could compete against the best at the 2013 SuperNationals V Chess Tournament held in Nashville, Tennessee on April 7.
In the K3 division, the team of Maxx Perez, Christian Cruz, Ernesto Garcia, Gianelli Serrano, and David Rodriguez placed sixth out of total of 76 schools. The K3 Blitz team of Jacob Fox, Carlos de Leon, Sabian Nieto and Michael Casas were awarded fifth place.
Over 4,000 students from across the nation were present at the competition. This year, the Sam Houston Chess Teams have earned more that 25 team and individual awards.
