Sam Houston Chess Team out moves the competition at high school tournament


On Nov. 2, the Sam Houston Elementary Chess Team had all the right moves at the Brownsville Porter High School Chess Tournament.

The Sam Houston Chess Team earned a total of 12.5 points, resulting in fifth place over all in the K-12 division.

Individually, Gabriella Serrano placed 12th in the division earning 3.5 points for the team. Carlos De Leon placed 19th earning 3.0 points.

The campus competed with 24 other teams and 800 individuals from across the Rio Grande Valley.
