Nolan E. Perez, M.D., has been selected to join the Philosophical Society of Texas, an exclusive non-profit organization established in 1837 to develop and promote literary, scientific and philosophical research.
Membership in the society is by invitation and is limited to 200 persons of distinction whose life and character have furthered the purposes for which the society was established.
Dr. Perez will participate in a formal induction ceremony Feb. 2, 2018, in San Antonio.
He was appointed to the Texas Women’s University Board of Regents by Texas Governor Greg Abbott in 2015 and, subsequently, was elected board chair in August 2017. Dr. Perez is the CEO of Gastroenterology Consultants of South Texas, PA in Harlingen. He is board certified in gastroenterology and is a Fellow of the American College of Physicians and the American College of Gastroenterology. He is a clinical associate professor and education coordinator for gastroenterology at the University of Texas Rio Grande Valley (UTRGV). He is the founder of RGV Mentors, a mentorship initiative for high school students.
Dr. Perez also serves on other boards including: The University of Texas Foundation, Holdsworth Center Governing Board, UT System Chancellor’s Council Executive Committee, The University of Texas at Austin Development Board, Humanities of Texas Board, Educate Texas Advisory Board, FIRST in Texas Foundation, Service Academy Nomination Board for Senator John Cornyn, The Texas Lyceum, Lone Star National Bank Board of Directors, Medical Director for Platinum Surgery Center, and is an expert panelist for the Texas Medical Board.
