Nine HCISD students named Texas All-State Musicians

Nine Harlingen CISD students earned a position in the Texas Music Educators Association (TMEA) Texas All-State Ensemble.

Virtual auditions, where students submitted recorded, real-time performances for a panel of five adjudicators, were held on January 16.

Typically, these All-State students would travel to San Antonio to participate in a combined group of students from across the state for a grand concert. However, due to COVID-19, the annual TMEA Convention was moved to a virtual setting.

This year, TMEA created a platform where students could participate virtually in their annual individual competitions that lead to Texas All-State. More than 70,000 students across Texas began the process at the district level back in November. Students advanced to Regional and Area rounds, eventually setting the stage for the All-State virtual auditions.
