Milam Elementary principal, Dr. Rosie Cobarrubias, was recently recognized as Region 1 TEPSAN of the Year by the Texas Elementary Principals and Supervisors Association (TEPSA).

“I am humbled to have been chosen as the 2017 Principal of the Year for Region 1, it is truly an honor,” said Dr. Cobarrubias. “I share this award with my staff who work diligently to make a difference in children’s lives. Together we shape the future of our society, serve with a heart full of grace and a soul full of love. Together we give the gift of an education that no one can ever take away. Nelson Mandela said it so robustly, ‘education is the most powerful weapon which you can use to change the world.’ Together we change the world one child at a time.”

Members from the 20 TEPSA Regions across the state annually honor a colleague for their outstanding service to the association. Award recipients must be committed to advancing the principalship and the association, as well as serving as a voice for Texas students.

Honorees will be recognized at the TEPSA Awards Reception Wednesday, June 14, at the Austin Renaissance Hotel.

TEPSA, whose hallmark is educational leaders learning with and from each other, has served Texas PreK-8 school leaders since 1917. Member owned and member governed, TEPSA has more than 5,800 members who direct the activities of more than 3 million PreK-8 school children. Learn more at www.tepsa.org.
