Middle-school students competed at the first National Speech and Debate Association National Qualifier this past weekend at Vela Middle School. Eighty-five students competed in twelve events over two days.
The first and second place winners of each event qualified for the NSDA Middle School National Tournament to be held in Ft. Lauderdale, Florida June 18-23.
