Student council members from Lamar Elementary School gathered to officially take their leadership positions on Nov. 16.
The campus hosted their Student Council induction ceremony, and made it a day to remember for all students.
Student council members stood proudly as their names were called to receive their medals, and Lamar students loudly cheered on their peers. To add some excitement, the Memorial Middle School band performed a few catchy numbers. Action 4’s Joey Horta served as the key speaker, and presented to the students on the importance of leadership.
The council members have already started taking an active role in the organization, and have previously participated in workshops to help build leadership skills at Zavala Elementary. The workshop had student council members from across the Rio Grande Valley present.
Their peers elect student council members. Their mission is to provide leadership to their campuses, and work to positively impact their community.
