HS Speech, Drama, and Debate students excel at TFA State Qualifying Tournament

Harlingen High School Speech, Drama, and Debate Team

Harlingen High School South and Harlingen High School Speech Drama Debate Teams excelled at the PSJA Southwest TFA State Qualifying Tournament this past Saturday. Harlingen South and HHS took 1st and 3rd place Sweepstakes wins respectively. Both teams competed against 31 other schools from throughout the state of Texas.

Qualifying for the TFA State Tournament this past weekend were South’s Jessica Durant and James Gracia in Duo Interpretation, James Gracia and John Duncan in Duet Acting, Angela Gonzales in Original Oratory, Christian Ingram in Humorous Interpretation, and Chris Smith in Domestic Extemporaneous Speaking. Brandon Salas will be representing HHS at the State tournament in Original Oratory.

Grant Burbach from HHS will represent HCISD and his region at the 2016 Super Conference at the University of Texas at Austin on October 22. Burbach was chosen to be a Student Presenter by the UIL State Director on account of his achievements as a member of the Speech, Drama, and Debate team.
