HHS marching band earns top prize at two competitions

The Harlingen High School earned top awards 3at two separate marching band competitions on Sept. 29.

The band earned first place at both competitions hosted by Valley View High School and PSJA High School. The band earned the PSJA Superintendent Award for being named the Overall Grand Champion. HHS received awards for their outstanding brass, woodwinds, drums and colorguard.

There were more than 25 schools that came to the competition. The next marching competition will be on Oct. 13.

“I’m proud of my students and their accomplishments,” said Ronnie Rios, HHS band director. “They are some of the most dedicated individuals. Their hard work enables them to succeed.”
