The Harlingen High School Jazz Ensemble will be representing the Harlingen Consolidated Independent School District and the state of Texas at the 69th International Midwest Band and Orchestra Clinic in Chicago on December 16-19, 2015.
HHS was invited to perform in April after going through a highly selective audition process. The group is one of only three high school jazz ensembles to be invited to perform from around the world.
“I am honored for the opportunity to attend this prestigious event and to be able to work with the greatest students in the world. Their hard work ethic is why they will achieve greatness in their lives,” said Ronnie Rios.
Featuring musical performances by professional, collegiate, high school and middle school groups, the four-day clinic is the world’s largest instrumental music education conference, drawing 17,000 attendees each year.
HHS is scheduled to perform Friday, December 18 at 1:15 P.M. at the McCormick Place Convention Center in the West Building.
