The Texas Girls’ State Chess Championship was held on September 23 at the University of Texas Rio Grande Valley with competitors and teams from across the State.
HCISD students had the opportunity to compete in this tournament, and three teams earned top spots.
Dishman Elementary received the State Championship title in the elementary division.
Memorial Middle School earned the State Championship title in the middle school division.
Harlingen School of Health Professions placed second in the high school division.
These three teams will advance to the All-Girls National Chess Championship that will take place in Chicago, Illinois, in April.
