The Harlingen Consolidated Independent School District received a rating of Superior Achievement for 2013-2014 year by the Texas Education Agency’s Financial Integrity Rating System of Texas. This marks the twelfth consecutive rating for HCISD.
The district’s rating is based on an analysis of staff and student data reported for the 2012-2013 school year. Also taken into consideration were the budgetary and actual financial data for the 2013 fiscal year. All areas of the district’s financial management were reviewed according to 20 indicators.
In addition to being the state’s highest mark, the Superior Achievement rating is an indicator of the quality of the district’s financial management and reporting system.
FIRST ensures that Texas public schools are held accountable for the standards of their financial management practices and that they continue to refine those practices. The system is designed to motivate schools to better manage their financial resources to provide the maximum allocation possible for direct instructional purposes.
