The Gutierrez Middle School Afterschool Centers on Education (ACE) program had another shining year, walking away with two awards at the ACE convention in Austin, TX.

They received the Top Academic and Top Enrichment Activity award for their “Good Times” project. The video was created by the students in the program’s Lip-Dub class, and was a music video that would show the fun experience and the academic environment they experience every day during the ACE program.

The student’s goal for this project was to encourage more students to join the ACE program. Through the making of the video, students were able to develop new skills that could potentially guide them toward a career path in video production.

This is the second year that Gutierrez has received awards for their ACE Program.

ACE is an afterschool program where students participate in activities to gain new skills and discover new career paths in a safe environment.

The program is available to secondary students and students at Bowie and Rodriguez Elementary. Students can enroll anytime during the year at no charge.
