On June 20, Eladio Jaimez was officially sworn in as a member of the Harlingen Consolidated Independent School District Board of Trustees during a Special Meeting.
As a Harlingen native and a graduate of Harlingen High School, Jaimez says he is proud to serve on the Board
“I am excited to represent the community that’s given me every opportunity to succeed,” Jaimez said. “I’m looking forward to learning form our great board members that bring a great deal of experience.”
In front of several family, friends, school district staff and community members, Judge Sally Gonzalez swore him in. Jaimez was appointed following an election to fill the vacancy left by former board member Verna Young.
“Eladio has a great sense of commitment and desire to serve our school district and community,” Board President Gerry Fleuriet said. “We welcome him and are honored to have him serve on our Board.”
Jaimez worked for the Valley Morning Star for 12 years as a sports writer, where he recorded many of our HCISD student-athletes’ achievements and successes.
Over the years, he developed many great relationships with coaches, parents and public officials that shared the same vision for Harlingen and the Rio Grande Valley.
He is currently with AEP Texas as a Communications Consultant where the company’s culture encourages and foster community involvement.
