DISH Cares, and on Thursday, August 31, they showed it by dropping off a truck full of school supplies at the doors of Harlingen Consolidated Independent School District.
As part of the DISH Cares program, DISH Network’s Harlingen Customer Care Center held its second annual school supply drive to collect backpacks, paper, binders, glue, markers and disinfecting wipes among other items to help children attending the district.
“This is just another example of how business and industry is supporting our school district. DISH Network is giving back to HCISD with a donation of school supplies and other things that kids may need to start the school year,” said Superintendent Dr. Art Cavazos. “We are super excited to continue this partnership, and we are thankful for DISH Network’s local employees giving back to a school district. It really goes to the root of what we are all about – working together to make certain that we give students the best opportunities.”
With the generous contributions of over 700 employees, DISH Network is giving students the tools they need to have a successful school year. The donation will help replenish school supplies available at HCISD’s Clothing Closet.
“Every single year, enterprise-wide, we have a school supply drive. For us, it’s very important to give back to our community. It’s part of Dish Cares, our Corporate Citizenship Program,” said DISH Human Resources Advisor. “I’m a huge believer in giving back to the community, so it means a lot when we rally together to make a big donation like this. We’ve been lucky that all our staff is very much involved with all the different causes that we get involved with.”
The Clothing Closet is a service program supported by the generous donations from local businesses, community members, and HCISD staff. Gently used clothing, school supplies, and other miscellaneous items are available. For more information, contact Parental Involvement at (956) 427-3515.
