On July 2, the Harlingen Consolidated Independent School District Board of Trustees approved Mike Reyes for the position of principal of Gutierrez Middle School.
Reyes is a graduate of the University of Texas at Brownsville, where he conducted both his undergraduate and graduate studies. Teaching since 1998, he has been an administrator at HCISD for six years. He recently held the position of Assistant Principal at Gutierrez.
“I’m very excited,” said Reyes. “As a campus we have done some tremendous things and have high standards in place. I want to continue the additions and expectations that we’ve set for our campus and students to succeed during the next school year.

Congratulations Mr. Reyes!! As a parent of a Junior at HHS (former GMS student) and a 7th grader at GMS I am excited about Mr. Reyes becoming principal of GMS. The staff / teachers are committed to providing a safe environment for our children and a place of learning and structure.
